  1. Align yourself! Iyengar Yoga is based on your body alignment and modern life styles have allowed you to lose that alignment, give your body to re- discover that alignment.

  2. Stand straight! A healthy, aligned spine will stand up straight, a straight spine is healthy, strong and has the ability to challenge the difficulties of the daily life.

  3. Breathe! During Iyengar Yoga you will learn to breathe normally even when you are tired, this will give you calm even in hard times.

  4. Calm Down! The savasana (corpse pose) performed after an Iyengar Yoga class is nothing like you have experienced before- it is cosmic , deep and will make you fly ☺

  5. Stay in the moment! During an Iyengar Yoga class the teacher will give you instructions to perform the Asana (yoga pose) correctly, this will make you concentrate on body and breath- you will not have any time to think anything else and will remain in the moment.

  6. Be Conscious! You will experience of being aware of your own body, Carrying this feeling into your daily life will make you more conscious and aware.

  7. Relax, you are in safe hands! Each Iyengar Yoga teacher has gone through a diligent training and has been doing yoga for many years, the training includes dealing with different health problems. It takes at least 5 years (with the practice) to become an Iyengar Yoga teacher so relax, and do yoga.

  8. Never say ‘can’t do yoga’! An Iyengar Yoga studio will have belts, blocks, bricks and ropes to enable to do Yoga asana whatever your body shape is and will help you with your individual needs. As before; you are in safe hands.

  9. Love Yourself! During an Iyengar Yoga class your body will extend, expand and you will feel muscles that you never felt before. The best place to get to know yourself is the yoga mat, recognize and love your difficulties as well as your foibles, without them you wouldn’t have been you!

  10. Renew Yourself! Iyengar Yoga gives you regular awards as long as you are able to receive them; joy, health, confidence, balance, courage, love, gratitude, flexibility, decisiveness, awareness are only some of them. Yoga is vast, the more you learn the less you know and the more you wish to know- it is regenerating through and through.
